KOINONIA:

A Ritual of Colors

It was around 1990 - the time of this performance - that my interest in "creative
spirituality" reached a climax.  The strict, cyclic alternation of electronic colors and vocals with percussion is intended to create a ritualistic, trance-like atmosphere.  The text is a series of "sound-names"; these are developed by musical variation.

Ultimately I came to feel the modern world has grown beyond receptivity to myth and ritual.  Another notion, "empathetic quests," found expression in
The Transcendental Railroad.  Then came the giddy freedom of the Hybrid Genre, the romantic labyrinth of Ofterdingen's universe, the startling appearance of Athanasius Schnee...

And so listening now to
Koinonia is as strange an experience for me as it is for you...
